INTERACTIVE NIGHT POLL

According to ABC :

"Fans of THE CHIPMUNKS will be sorry to hear that ALVIN, the trio's charismatic frontman, has left the group. His departure couldn't come at a worse time too, as The Chipmunks are gearing up to release their new Undeniable album next month. But apparently, success has gone to Alvin's head. DAVID SEVILLE, the group's longtime writer-producer, says, "I've been in this business since 1958. I know a guy who's looking to make a solo record when I see one." Group member THEODORE adds, "Dude thinks he's a movie star."

Now the good news. Inspired by pop and rock bands like JOURNEY and ANTHRAX, The Chipmunks are hoping to find their new lead singer on the Internet. Interested parties should go to ChipmunkAudition.com to apply for the gig. Group member SIMON says, "The Chipmunks have always been about the music, man. We want somebody who feels the same way."

In the meantime, Undeniable hits stores on November 4th. The new disc finds The Chipmunks covering rock classics like BON JOVI's "Livin' on a Prayer," LED ZEPPELIN's "Rock and Roll" and, perhaps most appropriately, Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'."

Permanent Good Hair Days... How amazing would that be?

"It's a good day for women who suffer through bad hair days.
German scientists say they're working on research that might lead to one good hair day after another without the worry of frizz or flyaway manes.
According to scientists, it isn't known yet why hair can look terrific one day and then something resembling a haystack the next. However, extreme close-ups of hair fibers are giving researchers an idea of how strands of hair react with one another. This may enable them to develop products that will make bad hair days a thing of the past.A researcher with Proctor & Gamble says it's no coincidence that hair care products have gotten more effective over the years. He chalks it up to science." ~ABC NEWS

Thursday Night Interactive Poll Question:

In Canton, Ohio they passed a law this week that you have to mow your lawn or go to jail. Do you think that WLBCLAND should have a similar law?

Here is the article:

"Canton, Ohio is fed up with seeing green. The city passed a law Monday in which residents who are ticketed a second time for having
lawn that is too high can be fined up to 250 dollars and be sentenced to a maximum of 30 days in jail.
The city previously passed a law which made a first high-grass violation a misdemeanor subject to a 150 dollar fine, but no jail time. Evidently, it wasn't as effective as hoped. Canton Mayor William J. Healy II said of the new law, quote, "This is the type of action we need to take in order to clean up our neighborhoods and our city."

The high-grass laws were passed to help the city cut down the nearly 250 thousand dollars it spends annually cutting private properties. "

Wednesday Night Interactive Poll:

In Louisana a barber was fined up to $500 for opening his shop on a Monday. There is a law that fines barbers that work on Sundays or Mondays. What do you think about that law?

Here is one of the articles:

"A barber in Houma, Louisiana wants local lawmakers to cut one obscure ordinance from the books -- the law that fines barbers who work on Sundays and Mondays.

Clyde Scott has owned the Clippas barbershop in Houma for two years and didn't think twice when he opened his shop on Monday, May 19th to give a few local kids a trim before their graduation ceremony. A police spokesman said the department discovered the ordinance after receiving complaints from other business owners about people loitering outside the barbershop. An officer gave Scott a summons, which carries a fine of up to 500 dollars, but prosecutors say the barber doesn't have to worry about paying it. Houma District Attorney Joe Waitz Jr. is asking the local parish council to repeal the law as unconstitutional."

Parents letting children ride bikes alone is uncommon. Is this true in WLBCLAND? What do you allow?

Fun Facts:

"Th
ere have been many stories about today's parents being too over-protective, and a new survey from Britain reveals it even applies to bike riding. A poll of 1,079 parents for Cycling England, a government agency that promotes bike riding, provides these statistics:

-- 81 percent of parents ban their kids from riding bikes without them.

-- Four out of five kids are not allowed to ride their bicycles to school.

-- The biggest reason parents gave for not letting their child ride their bike on the street was safety, but 97 percent of parents admitted they did not know anyone who had been in an accident.

-- Two-thirds of parents said they felt their child did not have the confidence and skills to ride on the street.

-- Only one in five kids is allowed to ride their bike as a way to get from one place to another. More than half the parents surveyed said they regularly used their bikes when they were kids to get around.

Cycling England says parental worries are turning today's generation into "cul-de-sac-kids" -- children who are restricted to riding their bicycles only in front of their homes."
